Tower internals introduction

The tower internals provide a contact place for mass transfer and heat transfer between gas-liquid phase and liquid-liquid phase. There are two main types of tower internals: packed tower and plate tower. The packed tower internals mainly include packing, liquid distributor, liquid collector redistributor, gas distributor, packing fastening device, packing support device; the plate tower internals mainly include: tower tray, liquid collecting box (plate tower), tower plate support device (plate tower), feed distributor, gas feed and distribution device and demister, etc.

A complete packed tower is composed of tower internals, packing and tower body. The role of tower internals is to make gas and liquid contact better in the tower, so as to maximize the production capacity and efficiency of the packed tower. Therefore, the quality of tower internal design directly affects the operation of the entire packed tower and the performance of the packing. In addition, the "amplification effect" of the packed tower is greatly affected by the tower internals in addition to the inherent factors of the packing itself. 

The tower internals mainly include the following parts:

1. Liquid distribution device；

2. Packing pressing device；

3. Filler support device；

4. Liquid collection, redistribution and feeding and discharging device；

5. Gas feeding and distribution device；

6. Defoaming device。
