The nickel content in 305 stainless steel is higher than that in 1Cr18Ni9, so the austenite is relatively stable, and martensitic transformation will not occur after cold deformation, and the tendency of work hardening is small. The steel has excellent cold and hot processing properties, easy hot processing forging and rolling, and can be cold processed for various products, and has good welding performance. It is suitable for spinning processing and special drawing, such as cold heading steel.
This steel is usually called 305 stainless steel. Non-magnetic.
305 corrosion resistance:
Uniform corrosion, the uniform corrosion resistance of steel is equivalent to that of 1Cr18Ni9, and some data can refer to the relevant data of 1Cr18Ni9.
Intergranular corrosion, due to the high carbon content in steel, it is not resistant to intergranular corrosion in the sensitized state. In the sensitization process, in order to improve its intergranular corrosion resistance, it should be solution treated.
305 process performance:
A. Hot processing 305 has good hot processing performance, and there is no difficulty in forging, rolling, upsetting and top forging. The hot processing heating temperature range is 1150~1180℃.
B. Cold processing and cold forming performance are the biggest advantages of 305. The work hardening rate is low, and cold forming operations of products with more stringent forming conditions and complex shapes can be implemented.
C. The solution treatment temperature of heat-treated steel is 1010~1150℃, and water cooling is performed after insulation. Stress relief annealing is 300~400℃*(4-8)h, followed by air cooling.
D. The welding performance of welding steel is good, which can be implemented with reference to 1Cr18Ni9. To ensure the corrosion resistance of steel and the intergranular corrosion resistance after welding, it is recommended to carry out solid solution treatment after welding.
305 application: 305 steel is mainly used for fasteners and deep-drawn parts in weakly corrosive environments. It can also be used for parts that require no or low magnetism after cold forming.
